Family Partnership
We don’t underestimate how daunting and worrying it can be for parents to leave their child in someone else’s care. Every child is unique and their parents know them best. Therefore, communication with parents is very important to us and we make every effort to build trust and get to know our families. Every new child is invited to settling in sessions before they start their regular sessions. It is an opportunity for parents and their child to become familiar with the setting and the key members of staff who will be looking after their child. It also means that the staff can spend some time getting to know the new child in a relaxed manner.
At the settling in sessions parents are introduced to EyLog for online learning journals which are used to record their child’s progress through nursery and is a key communication tool. The EyLog app gives secure access to observations, photos and videos of their child as soon as they are added to the learning journal. It also allows parents to contribute their own observations at home, creating a more comprehensive record of early years development and sharing vital information with their child’s Key Person.
We hold termly parents’ evenings which is an opportunity for parents to meet with their child’s Key Person to discuss their child’s progress. However, we also have an ‘open door’ policy at Bunny Run whereby staff and management are always available to discuss any issues or concerns that parents may have.
